it's a beautiful day

i had a brilliant day today. nothing extraordinary happened.. i worked a few hours, walked a bit, then came to this net cafe. but i've been in a great mood. i've been having strange dreams lately, maybe that's got something to do with it.

cocaine is a big problem in ireland at the moment (according to the media.. independent sources are sceptical as to whether the problem is really any larger than it ever was, or whether it's just saturated cover in the media giving the impression that the problem's escalating). there are loads of government ads on the radio that go something like this:

"so you're going out for a few drinks with your mates tonight. you have a few beers and you're feeling pretty good, then someone offers you a line and you think 'why not?'... think again"

and so on. so yesterday morning i awoke from a dream about which all details are now sketchy, except for the fact that someone gave me mountains of cocaine and i was ecstatic about it. i awoke in a great mood.

don't worry dad, it was just a dream.

misty morning

this morning on my way to work i walked out of the massage centre and into a dream. there was a crazy thick mist shrouding the entire city. and living on the dock, we got a good heaping of it. i actually thought i was dreaming. my first thought was "yessss, i don't have to go to work yet. i'm still sleeping"

it was very... disconcerting. in a nice way though.

Inis Mór

Went to Inis Mór (pronounced inish-more) on Thursday. Inis Mór is one of the Aran Islands, west of the Galway coast. The locals there (what few there are) still speak Irish.

My housemate Jenna and I took a ferry there then rented bikes and explored! The island was practically deserted.. not the tourist season, and lucky for us. We were also lucky enough to get good weather for this time of year.. we even saw some blue sky (believe it or not). We rode up to Dun Aonghasa (pronouned dun-engis), a centuries old semi circular stone fortification perched on the edge of some amazing cliffs.. the urge to jump off the edge was inexplicable and frightening! I think the photos below speak for themselves.. what an experience. We had a great day. I'll definitely take any future visitors of mine over there for the day.
